The Inconvenient Truth
Hopefully you noticed that my website and my Linkedin page haven’t been updated for a few days. I am currently working for a client as a Project Manager. This is a major initiative to build a Carbon Trunk Line. One that will take carbon from industrial facilities, and move the bi-product to older oil fields which will then be injected downhole for enhanced oil recovery. This project has the potential of increasing outputs of the fields by 30%.The ability to be part of a project in our great Province, working with a team through all the
challenges we face daily, provides a great sense of satisfaction. We work hard to maintain safety, schedules, costs, consumer and client approval. These types of jobs are the ones where you run low on sleep, high on stress but the end result is a pleasant euphoria that you know you delivered.
While I was taking care of the start-up challenges that generally arise in any project, I received the following comment in response to my introduction article on my blog
“We did take our province back, after 44 years of PC corruption, high taxes, and user fees. They were finally voted out and now things are getting done, and Alberta is becoming strong once again. Currently the UCP have got to stop bashing and being deceitful to people promoting their fear mongering. They will never get my vote if they don’t stop this”
If I were to conduct a survey, today, I believe that of the 200 people that are currently employed on the project that I spoke of, I would not find one of them that would agree with more than 5% of what the individual that supports the current NDP Government stated.
Most would agree, that there was a change last election, and that indeed the province did fire the Conservative party that was in power at the time.
As far as getting things done, I believe that all of the statistics and the performance record would indicate the contrary. That is unless the person counts on hampering small business, agreeing to an egregious wealth transferring program, chasing investors out, stalling projects, reducing credit ratings of the province, continuing to prop up a federal regime that is extremely one sided out of the guise of environmentalism, all the while driving up our debts to critical levels. This is not fear mongering. This is the “Inconvenient Truth” that has yet to be realized by the “NDP die hards”.
Honestly my best efforts will not be spent trying to convince the person who made the statement to vote for the UCP. The UCP that is a new grass roots party formed from the best of the wild rose, and the conservatives. We are working towards revitalizing the idea of what our Province is about. Showcasing to the world what we can be proud of and most importantly, what we can accomplish by working together.
My voice is for the folks who did not have a chance to vote last time, because they were out on the Right of Way, on the Well sites, on the Road, out in the fabrication shops, or working late in the office to make the customers deadlines. My voice is for the hard working Albertans that spend cold nights out in the field bringing in a calf that needs some TLC in order to survive. My voice is for those that put the food on our tables with the crops they grow. My voice is for the trucker that gets those same goods to market so we can all be fed. For the manufacturer that makes those tires, the plastic bags. For the educators, the health care professionals that take care of us. My voice is for the student that is struggling to get their assignments done as they had to take a job to supplement the high cost of education. You see, I aim to be the voice for everyone.
These are the folks that do not agree with the comments that were shared on the blog that I am now sharing and responding to. These are the folks that have been so negatively impacted by the NDP policies. They are the ones that need to have their voices heard, these are the ones who understand what I mean when I say
“Lets Take OUR Province Back”
These are the people whom I align myself with, and whom I want to represent.
Vote SHANE GETSON UCP LAC STE. ANNE - PARKLAND
